Excel: Keyboard Shortcuts for Displaying FormulasLast reviewed: October 31, 1994Article ID: Q43936 |
SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel versions 1.50 and earlier, typing the letter "F" with the Options Display dialog active toggles between checking and unchecking the option to display formulas. In Excel version 2.20, pressing the letter "R" with the Options Display dialog active has the same effect of toggling the option to display formulas. "R" was chosen as the toggle key in version 2.20 rather than "F" in order to remain consistent with the selection of "R" to pull down the Formula menu. "R" was chosen to pull down the Formula menu because "F" is already used to pull down the File menu. Since "R" is the toggle key for the display of formulas, "H" is used as the toggle key to display row and column headings. An even quicker way to toggle a worksheet between showing values and showing formulas in Excel 2.20 is to hold down the COMMAND key and press the back apostrophe key (`, or unshifted tilde). This method allows you to toggle the display of formulas in a worksheet without having to select any dialog boxes. KBSubcategory: kbother KBSubcategory:
