Page Breaks Not Viewable in Shaded Cells in Excel

Last reviewed: February 13, 1995

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

Your worksheet is printing as if there were page breaks in it, but there are not any visible page breaks on the sheet.

WORKAROUND

Check to see if the worksheet contains any shaded cells. If the cells on the worksheet are shaded, the page break lines are not viewable. To view the current page breaks, either temporarily remove the shading in the cells in the problem area or go to a portion of the spreadsheet where the cells are not shaded.

This same behavior may be evident if the cells have been formatted using a pattern in Excel versions 3.0 and later.
