SUMMARYThe following method requires Microsoft Excel version 1.5 or later. The INDIRECT function is not available in earlier versions of Excel. The INDIRECT function can be used to build an A1 style reference on a Microsoft Excel worksheet. For example, suppose cell A1 on the worksheet contains a C, cell A2 contains a 1, and cell C1 contains the word "text", as follows:
A1: C B1: C1:text A2: 1 B2: C2:To return the value of cell C1 (the word "text"), use the following formula:
=INDIRECT(A1&A2) |
