Excel: Data Transferred from 1.50 Invisible in 2.20

SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel version 1.50 worksheets containing text (not numbers or dates) in cells that are formatted as "mmm" or "ddd" will not transfer properly to Excel version 2.20. These cells will appear blank when the worksheet is opened into Excel 2.20. However, the information does appear in the formula bar.

To make this information visible, apply a new number format to the area where the data is invisible.

This behavior occurs because when the file is opened in 2.20, the formats "mmm" and "ddd" are converted to "mmm;" and "ddd;". The semicolon causes the text to not display. If the formats "mmm" and "ddd" are recreated in 2.20, cells formatted with this format will display dates and text correctly.
