SUMMARY

The "number" argument in Microsoft Excel's BEEP(number) command is for PC compatibility only and determines which sound to play on a PC. When you are creating a beep in Excel for the Macintosh, this argument is ignored and may be omitted.

To control the volume of the beep, use the Control Panel desk accessory (DA).

To have the beep sound a number of times, embed the BEEP() command in a loop, such as the following:

   =FOR("count",1,5)
   =BEEP()
   =NEXT()

The BEEP() command always produces the same sound as is produced by alert boxes.
