SUMMARYLinking to closed worksheets requires that the links contain only simple references (absolute references with no formulas). Page 434 of the "Microsoft Excel Reference" manual gives the following example of a simple external reference:
=BUDGET!Inflation (if the name Inflation refers to a cell, range, or constant)This is incorrect. If the above defined name "Inflation" refers to a text string or constant value, Excel gives the error message "'Inflation' on 'Budget': not defined or too complex" when the document named "Budget" is not open.
