Excel: Row Height Changes After Deleting a ColumnLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q62385 |
SUMMARYMicrosoft Excel reverts to the standard font's standard row height when a column is deleted if the worksheet has been formatted (by choosing Font from the Format menu) with a font that results in a standard row height less than the standard font's. This behavior does not occur if the worksheet is formatted with a font size that results in a standard row height greater than the standard font's standard row height. To ensure that the row height does not change, format the worksheet by choosing Standard Font from the Options menu. Using the Standard Font command ensures that the row height will remain as the standard row height even when a column is deleted.
MORE INFORMATIONFor example, when the standard font is set to Geneva 10 pt, the standard row height will be 13 points. If the entire worksheet is now formatted as Times 7 pt using the Font command on the Format menu (instead of the Standard Font command on the Options menu), the standard row height will be 9 points. If an entire column is deleted, the row height for the worksheet will revert to 13 points and Standard Height will be deselected in the Row Height dialog box (on the Format menu).
