Excel 1.00-1.50: Series Name Must Be Text String in SERIESLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q62510 |
SUMMARYThe Series Name argument in the SERIES formula of a chart cannot be represented as a reference or defined name in versions of Microsoft Excel earlier than 2.20. The Series Name argument must be a text string represented as "text". For example, the following SERIES formula is not accepted by versions 1.50 and earlier of Excel (but is acceptable in Excel 2.20):
=SERIES(Worksheet1!$A$1,,Worksheet1!$A$2:$A$5,1)However, the text string "Bob's Series" is accepted in the following SERIES formula:
=SERIES("Bob's Series",,Worksheet1!$A$1:$A$5,1)For more information on the SERIES formula, see Chapter 7, "Creating a Chart," in the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide" versions 1.0 and 1.5 manual.
