SUMMARY

In a Microsoft Excel dialog box definition table, if a cell in the Initial/Result column for a number or integer edit box is formatted with a custom number format that includes a text character, a dialog box error will result.

The following error message

   Error in dialog at MacroSheetName!Cell_Reference

will be returned, followed by a macro error at the cell containing the DIALOG.BOX function.

Text characters cannot be displayed in a number or integer edit box. To display a number in a custom format that includes a text character in a dialog box, change the item number of the edit box from either a 7 to a 6, or an 8 to a 6, making it a text edit box.

Note: These numbers will become text strings and cannot be used in calculations.
