SUMMARYTo have a quotation mark appear in a number format, the backslash (\) character must be used. For example, to create a format to display 654 as follows
The Number is "654"the following number format should be created in Format Number as follows:
"The Number is "\"#\" MORE INFORMATIONThe backslash character tells Excel to display the following character, rather than use it as a command. Normally, the quotation mark is used as a method of containing text strings (for example, "The Number is"). For more information on number formats, see pages 178 to 182 of the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide" for version 3.0 and pages 305 to 308 of the "Microsoft Excel Reference" manual for version 2.2.
