Complex Data Error on Canon LBP-8III, IIIR and IV printers

SUMMARY

When printing from Microsoft Excel 3.00 to a Canon LBP 8 III, IIIR, or IV printer, a "complex data" error often appears on the printer's LCD panel. This problem can be eliminated by changing the paint mode on the printer from PARTIAL to FULL. This is done with the front controls.

MORE INFORMATION

The Canon LBP 8 III, IIIR, and IV ship with the page print mode set to PARTIAL.

These Canon printers support three methods of storing and printing graphics.

PARTIAL

Is a method used to attempt to compress the image so that it takes less memory (factory default).

FULL

Is a method that uses little or no compression. It needs more memory to store graphics. (This is only an issue if downloadable fonts are being used.)

NOTE: Both FULL and PARTIAL are available on a printer with the original 1.5 MB RAM.

DUAL

This method tries to use a combination (recommended only on printers that have had a memory expansion added for more than 1.5 MB).
