Join External Database Files Example in Q+E Guide Is IncorrectLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q71481 |
SUMMARYPage 65 of the "Q+E for Microsoft Excel User's Guide" for version 3.00 has an incorrect example for joining external database files for cross-referencing information in Microsoft Excel. If you enter your criteria range exactly as it is in the guide, you will not receive any records when you attempt to extract. It may also cause your machine to hang.
MORE INFORMATIONRemoving the equal sign in cell A2 will allow this example to work correctly. The criteria range should read:
A1: DEPT.MGR_ID A2: EMP.EMP_IDSetting the criteria range to cells A1:A2 and initiating an extract retrieves all the records from EMP.DBF whose values in the EMP_ID field matches the MGR_ID field values in DEPT.DBF.
