Excel: Recently Opened Files Not Listed on File Menu

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 3.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel displays a list of the four most recently opened files near the bottom of the File menu, above the Quit command. This feature is available only on 13-inch or larger monitors.

MORE INFORMATION

This feature is not available in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh when using the standard Apple 9-inch monitor or the newer 12-inch monitors, which are frequently used with the Macintosh LC or IIsi computers. This behavior is by design since the limited size of the smaller screen does not allow adequate room to display the extended list of files without pushing the Quit command off the bottom of the screen.
