SUMMARY

After deleting a default menu option from its menu bar, Microsoft Excel 3.00 will allow you to replace the default menu option to its original position, using the ADD.MENU command. However, removing the Help menu and then attempting to restore it with the ADD.MENU command results in a macro execution error. All other menus can be restored successfully.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Enter the following text onto a macro sheet:

    A1: Macro_Error A2: =DELETE.MENU(1,"Help") A3: =ALERT("Help Menu has been deleted") A4: =ADD.MENU(1,"Help") A5: =RETURN()

  2. Select cell A1.

  3. From the Formula menu, choose Define Name.

  4. Select the Command option and choose OK.

  5. Run the macro. "Macro Error at cell..." results.

Solution

The only way to restore the Help menu is to exit and restart the Excel program.
