USE.INDEX Example Not Working Correctly in Q+ELast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q71968 |
SUMMARYPage 113 of the "Q+E for Microsoft Excel User's Guide" for version 3.00 shows an incorrect example for using the USE.INDEX command, which uses a dBASE index to sort dBASE records in the Query window. The documentation states the USE.INDEX(index_file) does not use a file extension, even though the example shows one. Executing this command will return a #REF! error.
MORE INFORMATIONThe example on page 113 shows
USE.INDEX('EMPHIRE.NDX')which shows the file extension .NDX. You need to remove the filename extension .NDX, which the macro will execute correctly. The following example shows the correct syntax.
USE.INDEX('EMPHIRE') REFERENCES"Q+E for Microsoft Excel User's Guide." Version 3.00, page 113.
