SUMMARYThe following is a complete list of Solver error messages. Note that references to these error messages are all documented at the bottom of this article.
Error MessagesActive document is not a worksheet. By Changing Cells must be on the active sheet. Cannot communicate with Solver application. Cannot find SOLVER.XLA. Cannot find REPORT.XLA. Cell named in the Cell Reference box must contain a formula. Cell Reference box is empty or contents are not valid. Constraint must be a number, a reference, or a formula. Load Model: Adjustable Cells reference not valid. Load Model: Constraint formula not valid. Load Model: Set Cell formula not valid. Load/Save Model: Selection must be multiple cells. Macro sent invalid problem. Microsoft Excel did not respond in time. Memory allocation error. No constraint to change. No constraint to delete. Precision must be a small positive number. Problem to solve not specified. Reset all Solver options and cell selections? Reset previous Solver cell selections? Save Model: Selection could not hold all constraints. Set Cell contents must be a formula. Set Cell must be a single cell on the ACTIVE sheet. Solver interrupted; choose Formula Solver to resume. Solver: OK to continue iterations, Cancel to stop. Solver to Microsoft Excel communication error. Too many adjustable cells. Too many constraints. Solver cannot improve the current solution. All constraints are satisfied. Solver could not find a feasible solution. Solver encountered an error value in a target or constraint cell. Solver stopped at user's request. The linearity condition is not satisfied. Turn off the Assume Linear Model check box and then run Solver again. The maximum time or iteration limit was reached. The values do not converge.
