SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 3.0, applying a custom number format that just includes placeholders for decimal points, for example ".000" (without the quotation marks), can cause cells to be filled with number signs.
MORE INFORMATIONThe size of the number in the cell, and the number of zeros to the right of the decimal in the number format will affect whether number signs are shown. To avoid this problem in version 3.0, the number format should include either a zero or a number sign to the left of the decimal point. The above format could be typed as "#.000" (without the quotation marks). For a solution to this problem, please contact Product Support directly at 425-635-7080.
