Excel: Picture Chart Graphics Extend Beyond Ends of Bars

Last reviewed: November 1, 1994
Article ID: Q75819

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 3.0, graphics pasted into bar or column charts may be printed beyond the top of the bars. This creates the appearance that the bar extends beyond the true value of the data. This behavior occurs only if both the following conditions are true:

  1. The graphic was created with a polygon tool from another application.

  2. The graphic is stacked in the bars with the Stack option in the Format Patterns dialog box.

Note: This behavior affects only printouts and does not affect chart windows or print preview.

MORE INFORMATION

To work around this problem, create the graphics with a tool other than the polygon tool so that the chart will print as expected.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
