"Call to Undefined Dynalink" Message When Starting Excel 4.0Last reviewed: March 2, 1995Article ID: Q83414 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel for Windows version 4.0, if the executable file (EXCEL.EXE) is renamed, a "Call to Undefined Dynalink" error message in Windows 3.1 may appear when Microsoft Excel is run. Microsoft Excel will then immediately close. In Windows 3.0, an Unrecoverable Application Error may appear instead. Renaming the Microsoft Excel executable file as EXCEL.EXE will correct this problem.
MORE INFORMATIONThe CROSSTAB.XLL add-in that ships with Microsoft Excel 4.0 calls routines within EXCEL.EXE. If EXCEL.EXE has been renamed, Windows cannot find these routines, and the "Unrecoverable Application Error" or "Call to Undefined Dynalink" message may appear.
