SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel version 4.0, when working in Group Edit mode either by selecting Group Edit from the Options menu or by using the WORKGROUP() function in a macro, all user-defined custom menu commands will be disabled (greyed out).
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above. This problem was corrected in version 5.0 of Microsoft Excel for Windows.
MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Excel version 4.0 offers a group edit mode for making changes to multiple documents at the same time or for batch printing a group of worksheets. When you are working in this mode certain menu commands that wouldn't be usable in a group edit situation and all custom defined menu commands will be disabled. To enable your custom menu commands, it is necessary to exit the group edit mode. To do so, select any worksheet other than the one currently active or choose Group Edit from the Options menu and select a single sheet from the Select Group list box.
