Excel: Choosing Help in Dialog Box Brings Up Wrong Help TopicLast reviewed: November 29, 1994Article ID: Q87364 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel, bringing up Help while in a dialog box may not display the expected Help topic if the currently active dialog box was brought up on top of another dialog box called from a different command or function.
CAUSEExcel always brings up the Help topic for the first dialog box displayed. For example, if you have the Scenario Manager dialog box displayed and then choose Arrange from the Window menu, choosing the Help button on the Arrange Windows dialog box (or the keyboard equivalents: F1 in Excel for Windows or COMMAND+SLASH(/) in Excel for the Macintosh) displays the Help topic for Scenario Manager instead of for Arrange Windows.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above. This problem was corrected in version 5.0 of Microsoft Excel for Windows.
WORKAROUNDTo get the Help topic you need, choose Contents from the Help menu and select the topic from the available list or use the Search feature.
