The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel for Windows, one name is dropped from the list of open document windows if the Info Window is enabled with more than eight windows open. The missing document window name returns to the list when the Info Window is closed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above. This problem was corrected in version 5.0 of Microsoft Excel for Windows.
MORE INFORMATIONExcel lists up to nine open document window names on the Window menu. If more than nine windows are open, Excel adds the More Windows command to the Window menu. When you choose More Windows, Excel displays a list of all open document window names. The Info Window displays information about the active cell on a worksheet or macro sheet. The name Info:<window name> replaces one of the nine names listed on the Window menu when the Info Window is active. However, the name replaced by the Info Window name doesn't show on the list when you choose the More Windows command.
WORKAROUNDThe only way to return the missing document window name to the list is to close the Info Window. To close the Info Window: If the Info Window is the active window, choose Close from the File menu or double-click the control bar in the upper left corner of the Info Window. -or- If it's not the active window:
