Last reviewed: November 29, 1994
Article ID: Q89400
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 4.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

Summary:

Version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel does not save a split to or load a split from the WK3 file format.

More Information:

Version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel for Windows retains split information to WKS and WK1 file formats, but not to WK3 file format.

One possible workaround is to save the document in either WK1 or WKS file format. The split window will be saved as a set of frozen panes, or worksheet titles.
