The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 4.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

In a crosstab table, the cell where a column count and row count intersect returns a blank cell. This is a limitation of version 4.0 of Microsoft Excel.

MORE INFORMATION

Cells where subtotals intersect are blank by design. If the types of subtotal are not equivalent, such as a SUM and a COUNT, a value for the intersection would result in an inaccurate value. Therefore, the intersection cannot be calculated as a subtotal.
