SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel, the macro functions provided with the Workgroup Extensions Kit may return a #VALUE error if the [Mail] section of the Windows for Workgroups WIN.INI file is missing. In order for these functions to operate correctly in Microsoft Excel, the WIN.INI file must contain the following lines:
[Mail] MAPI=1 MORE INFORMATIONThe MAPI=1 line in the WIN.INI file is used to inform other mail-enabled applications that the Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI) is present on this workstation. This entry is written by the Mail program that comes with Windows for Workgroups when you run Mail for the first time. An entry of 1 identifies that the MAPI functions are present on this workstation, while an entry 0 is used to inform other applications that the MAPI support functions are not present. Most macro functions provided by the Workgroup Extensions Kit will return a #VALUE! error value if any error occurs while performing that operation. The GET.MAIL(1) command can be used to return more information on the last error generated. In the case of a missing MAPI=1 line in the WIN.INI, the GET.MAIL(1) function will return the value 1001. This corresponds to MAPI not installed.
