The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYWhen you select the Ignore Words In UPPERCASE check box in the Spelling dialog box, this option remains selected until you clear it. Since the Spelling dialog box appears only when the Spelling tool suspects a misspelled word, this feature of the Spelling tool may be inconvenient if you switch to a document that contains text formatted in all uppercase letters and you want to be able to check the spelling of that document.
Workarounds
Clear the Ignore Words In UPPERCASE Check BoxTo change the Ignore Words In UPPERCASE option while you are running Microsoft Excel:
Modify the EXCEL4.INI FileYou can also change the Ignore Words In UPPERCASE option by changing the [Spell Checker] section of the EXCEL4.INI file from
[Spell Checker] Ignore Caps=1to:
[Spell Checker] Ignore Caps=0Where Ignore Caps=0 sets the option to off (false), and Ignore Caps=1 sets the option to on (true).
