XADM: Cannot Send X.400 Delivery Reports Through French ADMD

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Exchange Server includes the square bracket characters [ and ] when generating a X.400 Delivery Report. Some foreign Message Transfer Agents (MTAs), such as French ADMD ATLAS400, refuse these Delivery Reports and don't relay them because of the presence of these characters.

CAUSE

These characters are present in the printable string SupplementaryInformation field of the PerRecipientReportTransferFields structure.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Exchange Server U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
