XADM: DS Crashes With Dr. Watson In Details.cLast reviewed: January 6, 1998Article ID: Q140338 |
The Information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to obtain details of a queued message in the Microsoft Exchange Message Transfer Agent (MTA) property page, using the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program, the Microsoft Exchange Directory service (DS) may crash with a Dr. Watson error. If Microsoft Exchange and Windows NT symbols are installed, the Dr. Watson dump will show the crash in Details.c.
CAUSEThe call made to the DS to obtain the details of the message expects a certain number of attributes to be returned. In some cases, these return values can be pulled from bad memory. This causes the DS to crash.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Exchange Server U.S. Service Pack.
