The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Exchange Windows 95 client, versions 4.0 and 5.0
  • Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, versions 4.0 and 5.0
  • Microsoft Exchange Windows NT client, versions 4.0 and 5.0

SYMPTOMS

When you drag and drop text between messages the results are inconsistent. If you drag and drop text to either the body of a message or the subject line of a message, the information is copied. However, if you drag and drop text to the From:, To:, Cc:, or Bcc: fields, the information is cut and pasted.

CAUSE

This symptom is due to the behavior of RichEdit dealing with addressing fields compared to normal RichEdit subject fields.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, press and hold the CTRL key during the drag and drop operation to the From:, To:, Cc:, or Bcc: fields.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
