SYMPTOMSAdministrators and users of the Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service or Internet Mail Connector (IMC), will find that when the Internet Mail Service or IMC is configured to send attachments via Uuencode, the body text will wrap at column 73, regardless of the setting declared on the Internet Mail Service or IMC's property page in the Interoperability dialogue box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in version 4.0 of Microsoft Exchange Server. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. A supported fix to this problem on Microsoft Exchange, version 4.0, is in development, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information on the availability of this fix. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0.
