SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to send a message to a large private distribution list, event logs indicate content conversion errors (Event ID 210) and you may receive a non-delivery report (NDR).
CAUSEThe Windows NT OLE wrappers used for content conversion inside the message transfer agent (MTA) are not scalable enough for the large number of recipients.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0.
