SUMMARY

This article explains how the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program works when administering a server through a firewall.

MORE INFORMATION

When the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program is run, it dynamically picks any available port over 1024 for the connection. Therefore, you should open a port over 1024 so the Administrator program can connect to the computer running Microsoft Exchange Server across the firewall.

There is no way at this time to choose a specific port for the Administrator program to use.
