The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe Scanpst.exe utility of Microsoft Exchange Client fails to detect and fix a file truncation corruption where the only blocks in the truncation were orphans. This leaves the PST file as unusable because the PST provider will not connect to a PST file with this type of corruption.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Exchange 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
