The Information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen a Microsoft Exchange Windows 95 client sends a message to a Macintosh user through the Microsoft Exchange AppleTalk connector, with extended ASCII characters in the filename of an attachment, these characters are not preserved when the message is received on the Macintosh computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server, version 4.0. We are currently researching this issue and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0.
