XFOR: MACGATE Access Violation During Generation of Admin Msg

• Microsoft Exchange Server versions 4.0 and 5.0

SYMPTOMS

When processing a bad message, the Macintosh Gateway causes an access violation in Macgate.exe.

CAUSE

An improper argument is being passed to a heap deallocation routine.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange versions 4.0 and 5.0.

A supported fix to this problem in Microsoft Exchange version 4.0 is in development, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information on the availability of this fix.

This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
