SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to use a browser to access a computer running Microsoft Exchange Server that is running Active Server Components, you may receive the following error message:
HTTP/1.0 404 Object Not Found CAUSEThis error can occur if a virtual root is not configured on Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or is being used from the browser, pointing to the Exchange Server Active Components directory.
RESOLUTIONSet the default directory to \\Exchsrvr\Webdata. To do this, run Internet Service Manager on the IIS server and select WWW Properties. Select the Directories page. Set the virtual directory to /Exchange. The default Directory is C:\exchsrvr\webdata. The Alias is /Exchange. Make sure that the Directory path is valid and matches the location of the Exchange Webdata directory. The Alias column displays the virtual directory and should be set to /Exchange.
