XADM: Information Store Crash Due to Incorrect Caching

SYMPTOMS

The Information Store may crash when rendering a UTF (unicode translation format) message with a One-Off reply address.

CAUSE

A call that is causing cache corruption by allowing buffer sizes to be set incorrectly may cause the information store to crash. The above occurs when using the POP3 or IMAP4 protocol.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0.
