XCLN: Delegate Unable to View All Messages in Owner's Mailbox

Last reviewed: March 11, 1998
Article ID: Q178416
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook Windows 95 client, versions 8.00, 8.01, 8.02, and 8.03
  • Microsoft Outlook Windows NT client, versions 8.00, 8.01, 8.02, and 8.03

SYMPTOMS

When you access a user's Inbox as a delegate, you may not be able to see all messages in the Inbox, even though you have delegate permissions.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur after an Admin Moveuser from an Microsoft Exchange 4.0 Server computer. Mostly newer messages (messages after the move) are affected.

WORKAROUND

Give mailbox privileges for the user who is defined as a delegate, instead of configuring the user as a delegate.

  1. Click the Mail icon in Control Panel.

  2. Select the profile and click the Properties button.

  3. Select the Exchange Server Service and click Properties.

  4. Click the Advanced tab, open these additional mailboxes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Outlook versions 8.00, 8.01, 8.02, and 8.03 for Windows NT and Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
