XADM: DSAMain Stops on DSAMAIN!PutDistName

• Microsoft Exchange Server versions 4.0 and 5.0

SYMPTOMS

This problem occurs when you are running version 5.0 of the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program against a computer running Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. When you remove a server from the site, the Directory Service (Dsamain.exe) has a general protection fault (GPF).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
