SYMPTOMS

An attempt to run FoxPro for Windows under the Microsoft Windows NT operating system fails with the error "Not running on a 386 DPMI implementation."

CAUSE

The Windows NT operating system allows Windows 3.x-based applications to run in 386 enhanced mode on an x86-based platform, and in standard mode on non-x86-based platforms. Because FoxPro for Windows requires the 386 enhanced mode of Windows, it cannot be run on a non-x86 platform under Windows NT.

RESOLUTION

In order to run FoxPro for Windows under the Windows NT operating system, you must be using an x86-based computer.
