Save As Dialog Box Figure in User's Guide Misleads UsersLast reviewed: June 27, 1995Article ID: Q104475 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYUsers who pay close attention to the figure on page 2-23 in the "User's Guide" may interpret the Save As command on the File menu as a way to save a database to another name. However, the Save As command cannot be used in this manner; the Copy To command on the Database menu must be used instead.
MORE INFORMATIONThe figure on page 2-23 displays the Save As dialog box. The list box is filled with the names of tables, and the mask specifies "*.dbf". This may give the user the impression that the Save As dialog box should be accessible when a table is open. To save a table with another name, choose Copy To from the Database menu, as described on page 4-26 of the "User's Guide." The resulting dialog box provides most of the functionality of the COPY TO command described on page 3-312 in the "Language Reference" manual. To use clauses not supported by the user interface, you can issue the COPY TO command in the Command window.
