PRB: REPORT FORM Always Invokes Printer Setup Dialog Box

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5 and 2.5a

SYMPTOMS

When issued from the Command window in FoxPro for Windows, the REPORT FORM <file> TO PRINTER command always invokes the Print Setup dialog box. This behavior occurs even though the PROMPT clause is not included in the REPORT FORM command.

RESOLUTION

This is the correct behavior for the REPORT FORM command. When the REPORT FORM command is issued interactively from the Command window, the Print Setup dialog box is automatically invoked. There is no command in the FoxPro language to keep this dialog box from appearing.

The REPORT FORM command acts differently when placed in a FoxPro for Windows program. The command REPORT FORM <file> TO PRINTER will not display the Printer Setup dialog box. To call the Printer Setup dialog box from within a FoxPro for Windows program, you must use the PROMPT clause.

When issued in FoxPro for MS-DOS, the PROMPT clause has no effect on the REPORT FORM command.
