  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6

SUMMARY

In FoxPro 2.6, the following dialog box will appear when FoxPro is opening a dBASE table:

Convert MEMO File to FoxPro Format?
This can later be reversed with
         COPY ... TYPE FOXPLUS
           <Yes> <No>

If you choose No, FoxPro will not open the database and the following error message will occur:

   Not a table/DBF.

If you choose the Yes button, the following dialog box will appear:

Remove dBASE 'soft' carriage returns from MEMOS?
Choose Yes if all memos are normal text
Choose No if any memos have binary data
                  <Yes> <No>

If you choose Yes, FoxPro will remove all soft carriage returns from all memo fields.

If you choose No, FoxPro will not remove any soft carriage returns.

MORE INFORMATION

When you are editing a memo field in dBASE, the autowrap feature of dBASE automatically inserts a soft carriage return when the line wraps. This soft carriage return has an ASCII value of 141.
