SYMPTOMS

When you are running on a Microsoft LAN Manager network, your network and printer connections will occasionally be lost. You may receive some of the following error messages:

   File Not Found
   File Does Not Exist
   Cannot Create File
   Use of Transgressed Handle
   Invalid File Handle

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do the following:

  1. Increase the "chartime" setting in the workstation's LANMAN.INI file.

  2. Load SMARTDRV in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

  3. Set the "sesstimeout" setting in the workstation's LANMAN.INI file to 127.

  4. Set the fifteenth "srvheuristics" parameter in the workstation's LANMAN.INI file to 9 (no time-out).
