Last reviewed: June 27, 1995
Article ID: Q114148
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, 2.6, 2.6a

SYMPTOMS

Applications created with the FoxPro for Windows application generator (FOXAPP.APP) create windows that are too big to run correctly under FoxPro for MS-DOS.

RESOLUTION

There are two ways to work around this problem:

  • Develop the application under Windows using 640 x 480 video resolution. This works well with databases with few fields.

    -or-

  • Transport the screens to MS-DOS using TRANSPORT.PRG. To transport the screen, open the project file and double-click the appropriate screen set. This will automatically bring up the Transport dialog box. Choose OK to transport the file to MS-DOS. After the screens have been transported, rebuild the project and the application file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create an application in FoxPro for Windows using FoxApp.

  2. Close FoxPro for Windows and open FoxPro for MS-DOS.

  3. From the Program menu, choose Do, and select the application you created in step 1.

When the application opens up, the data entry screen will take up the majority of the screen, especially if there are a large number of fields, hiding the control screen from view.
