PRB: Cancel Hot Key Doesn't Work in Wizard Application

Last reviewed: June 27, 1995
Article ID: Q114487
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, version 2.6

SYMPTOMS

When the initial screen of the Wizard application is active, pressing the C key to choose the Cancel push button does not cancel the execution of the application.

CAUSE

This is the expected behavior of FoxPro. When the Wizard application starts, the cursor in the introductory screen is in the list box titled "Select a Wizard." Whenever a list box is active within a FoxPro screen and a key is pressed, the active list object searches for the closest matching entry in the active object. Since the Select A Wizard list box contains no items beginning with the letter "C," no action occurs.

RESOLUTION

To Close the Wizard Application in FoxPro Version 2.6 for MS-DOS

Click the Cancel push button with the mouse, or press the TAB key to select (highlight) the Cancel push button, and then press the ENTER key.

To Close the Wizard Application in FoxPro Version 2.6 for Windows

Click the Cancel push button with the mouse, press ALT+C, or press the TAB key to select (highlight) the Cancel push button, and then press the ENTER key.
