BUG: Syntax Error in WZSHOW When Divider Is Clicked

Last reviewed: April 30, 1996
Article ID: Q114657
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, version 2.6
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, version 2.6

SYMPTOMS

When you choose the Run or Print button in the Catalog Manager, the following error message will appear:

   Error 10 (Syntax error.) occurred in WZSHOW. Catalog Manager will
   restart.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by a problem in the source code of CATALOG.APP.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem, do not choose the Run or Print button when no valid options are selected. Instead, select a valid option (report, label, screen, and so on) before choosing the Run or Print button.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro version 2.6 for Windows and FoxPro version 2.6 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Start the Catalog Manager and open the sample catalog.

  2. USE the customer table, so that the Screen, Report, and Label tabs each have a separator bar.

  3. Go to the Screen, Report, or Label tab, click the separator bar, and choose Run or Print. It may not be possible to reproduce the problem if the separator bar is at the top of the list box. Click the separator bar when it is not at the top of the list box. For example:

============

Text Here
          |------------| <<- click on the separator bar
Text Here
============

The following error message will appear:

   Error 10 (Syntax error.) occurred in WZSHOW. Catalog Manager will
   restart.

In the FoxPro for MS-DOS, the problem will occur when the separator bar is in the first slot in the scrolling list.
