PRB: SHIFT+LEFT ARROW Does Not Behave as Expected

Last reviewed: April 18, 1995
Article ID: Q115052
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.5b, 2.6

SYMPTOMS

In FoxPro version 2.5b or later for MS-DOS, the SHIFT+LEFT ARROW key combination does not select (highlight) the desired text. Instead, the number 4 is inserted at the cursor insertion point.

This behavior occurs only when the LEFT ARROW key, or any other key on the numeric keypad, is used. The free-standing directional keys work as expected.

RESOLUTION

Use the free-standing directional (or cursor-movement) keys if your keyboard has them.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
