BUG: SET PRINT TO FILE, Then ON, OFF Creates 0-Byte File

SYMPTOMS

Setting PRINT to a file, setting PRINT ON, and then setting PRINT OFF creates a file with a size of 0 bytes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, and 2.6 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

The expected behavior is for no file to be created.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

In the Command window, type the following:

   SET PRINT TO test.txt
   SET PRINT ON
   SET PRINT OFF
   SET PRINT TO

Note the presence of a TEST.TXT file with a size of 0 bytes.
