The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIt is not possible to print to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet IIP or a LaserJet IIP Plus printer in landscape orientation. When output is sent to these printers and landscape orientation is selected, the output will be printed in portrait orientation.
CAUSEThe font currently in use is FoxFont or another non-TrueType font. This is a printer limitation not specific to FoxPro.
RESOLUTIONUse Courier New, Arial, or another TrueType font.
STATUSMicrosoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONThe HP LaserJet IIP and IIP Plus printers have internal portrait fonts and landscape fonts. Portrait fonts are used specifically for printing in portrait orientation and landscape fonts are used specifically for printing in landscape orientation. These limitations do not apply when TrueType fonts are used, since in the case of TrueType fonts, the image is downloaded to the printer--the printer's internal fonts are not used. Since non-TrueType fonts do not use the printer's internal fonts, limitations associated with portrait versus landscape fonts are not applicable. The information in this article may also apply to other HP LaserJet printers and should be considered when troubleshooting similar problems. The Hewlett-Packard products mentioned here are manufactured by a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
